How long is a piece of string? It depends… Our target price range is $9,500 – $18,500 depending on model and build out. The price will vary depending on the number of options you have HEO add to your build vs. adding yourself. Full pricing will be released soon.
As the home page says, “Light Enough for your Subie. Rugged Enough for your Rubi.” At 650 and 750 lbs, respectively, we designed both the Trail HErO 1 and the Trail HErO 2 to be towable by just about any passenger car or small crossover SUV that you would take camping. Personally, I tow my own Trail HErO 2 behind my 2021 CrossTrek Sport, which has a towing capacity of just 1500 lbs, and a tongue weight limit of 150 lbs.
A 2” receiver hitch (class 3, 4 or 5) is required. If you go with the Lock ‘N Roll 3-axis off-road coupler that comes standard, the trailer comes equipped with both vehicle side and trailer side bits. If you opt for the optional 2” ball coupler, you will need to supply your own vehicle side (i.e, ball).
The frame and skeleton of all our trailers are MIG-welded rectangular or square tubular aluminum – marine-grade and aerospace-grade (6061-T6, 6063-T5, 6063-T52). The exterior is diamond tread plate aluminum and ultra light 3mm ACM (aluminum composite material – two aluminum sheets bonded to a polyethylene core). The interior is 3mm ACM.
Aluminum is both strong and lightweight, and it won’t rust like steel. (And it’s infinitely recyclable!)
We spec Dexter TORFLEX torsion axles, with a 2200 lb tube (derated to 1800 lbs, with replaceable 3500 lb spindles and tapered bearings, providing 5” of independent suspension travel, virtually no maintenance other than periodic lubrication (made very simple with the included EZ-LUBE grease zerks), and easy repair in the unlikely event you should need that after getting a little too spicy in your adventures.
Yes. We can even match your tow vehicle’s wheels and tires (up to 35”), but there is an additional cost.
Yes, including a breakaway switch and 7-way round wiring, at additional cost. Must be specified at time of order.
Flat 4 comes standard, or optional 7-way round (at additional cost).
Unfortunately, this is not an option, due to the design and construction of the Trail HErO – we have not found a safe and dependable way of mating a steel receiver to our aluminum trailers. But we can absolutely work with you to figure out and provide alternative methods of carrying your bikes!
Absolutely! We stand behind our Trail HErO with a 3-year limited warranty covering defects in materials or workmanship. In the unlikely event you encounter any problems under normal use, please reach out and let us make it right!

That’s up to your local DMV and the law of the state where you live, but generally, yes, Trail HErO’s will need to be licensed and registered (they absolutely do in Colorado). HEO provides a Certificate of Origin and Bill of Sale that you can provide to your local DMV to obtain a title and license, if necessary. It probably goes without saying, but I’ll say it anyway (did I mention that I used to be a lawyer?), the costs associated with obtaining that title and license are on you. Small price to pay for years of adventures, memories and stories in your Trail HErO!
